Fall times (cont.)

Like Katie, I'm so excited that fall is here. I'm always torn between fall and winter as my favorite season. I always look forward to the smell and feeling of a fall morning. I've been working out in the yard quite a bit, planting some mums and pansies, and over-seeding the backyard. Working outside is infinitely more enjoyable in the fall compared to the summer.

Work is moving along for me these days. I've been working in the surgical ICU, and this will be my last week. It'd be a nice rotation if it weren't for the hours, the surgeons, the hours, and the surgeons. Anyway, I move back to the operating room next week, which I look forward to.

Like Katie said, we picked up a couple pumpkins during our trip to Greenwood this weekend. Pictures don't give justice to how beautiful the views of the Blue Ridge Mountains are out there, but we tried anyway! I'll include a few for everyone to enjoy:

It's fall, baby!

It's officially fall, my favorite season, and it's getting cooler outside. We got pumpkins yesterday from Greenwood Grocery while we were heading to a friend's house in Crozet. Tyndall had lots of fun there and we took some great pictures. Here are some more updates:
1. Tyndall attended her first football game at Monticello. Her eyes would get really wide when she heard the noisemakers.
2. She weights almost 12.5 pounds and is close to 24 inches long-- 85th percentile (I think).
3. The rest of my family finally gets to meet her this week!
4. Hope is coming for a week in October. It will be ridiculous.

Well, that's about it. I will post some pictures of the pumpkins. Meanwhile, here are the last sunflowers from my garden.

Cool things my kid can do

1. Roll over.
2. Smile spontaneously.
3. Squeal.
4. Imitate the baby velociraptor from Jurassic Park.
5. Look cute.
6. Sleep 9 hours a night.
7. Dress herself.
Just kidding about that last one, however, #1 and #6 are pretty darn impressive. Ok that's about all she can do right now. She's only 9 weeks old, gosh.

"Hi, You've reached the Leaches!"

My first year of teaching at Monticello, I had a student who thought it would be hilarious to record an answering machine message that would say (in a very corny voice): "Hi, You've reached the Leaches! Sorry we can't come to the phone, but leave a message and we'll call you back! BEEEP." He would crack up every time he said this, which was a few times a week for an entire year. We never got an answering machine, but we do have a blog as of September 19, 2011, which is waaay more 21st century anyway. And now we have a baby-- a B.Leach (Baby Leach). So I suppose Daniel created this blog as a way to post general stuff and things about our life (boring, who wants to read that?) and our baby's life (super awesome) so that facebook is not our sole medium of relaying information and pictures. Because really, how many people do you know who post hundreds of photos of their children on facebook? Too many. I also suppose that we will use this blog to publish other things besides our life and times, but there's not much better to write about than Tyndall. I think I might turn into one of those people who talks about her kid all the time. What can I say? I'm in love. Enjoy.
